On May 8, 2013, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara met in the Embassy of Ukraine with representatives of the U.S. National Park Service Peter May and Stephen Lorenzetti and «Hartman-Cox Architects» Company Mary Katherine Lanzillotta to discuss the issues of the construction in Washington DC of the Memorial to the victims of the Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
The representatives of the U.S. Committee for Ukrainian Holodomor Genocide Awareness 1932-1933 Michael Sawkiw and Bohdana Urbanovych also took part in the meeting.
The Minister was informed of the federal regulations regarding construction and further maintaining of monuments in the U.S. Capital.
For his part, L.Kozhara underlined, that President of Ukraine V.Yanukovych keeps the issue of the construction of the Holodomor Memorial in Washington, DC, under scrutiny. Also, the Minister communicated the willingness of Ukraine’s Government to take measures to implement this important project.
