On May 9, 2013, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara delivered a speech entitled “The priorities of contemporary foreign and domestic policy of Ukraine” at the roundtable in one of the leading U.S. think tanks - National Democratic Institute.
The attendees of the roundtable included U.S. government officials, prominent experts, representatives of the diplomatic corps and Ukrainian community of the U.S.
L.Kozhara informed of the implementation of systemic reforms, initiated by the President V.Yanukovych, political situation in the country, and major foreign policy priorities – European integration, promotion of strategic partnership with the United States and the Russian Federation.
It was emphasized that the current ultimate goal of Ukraine’s foreign policy is to ensure the signing of the Association Agreement and Free Trade Zone Agreement with the EU in November 2013.
The Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, who is also a Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE in 2013, briefed the audience on the priorities of the Ukrainian chairmanship in the OSCE, one of the most respected international organizations, provided detailed information on Ukrainian effort in resolving frozen conflicts and issues of the humanitarian development.
