On August 24th, 2011 in Washington D.C. the Embassy of Ukraine to the United States held a laying-flowers ceremony at the Taras Shevchenko Monument on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.

The ceremony was attended by the Ukrainian diplomats and Ukrainian American Community.

After a joint prayer for Ukraine, Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine to the United States Vadym Prystaiko greeted the audience with welcoming words, in which he emphasized on major achievements of Ukraine for twenty years of its independence, as well as thanked Ukrainian Americans for their significant contribution to the revival and development of Ukraine’s Statehood.
