The friendship of Arlington and Ivano-Frankivsk, which became Sister Cities in last March, has been continuing.
On display at the Westover Branch Library in the month of October are photos showing the diversity of the Ukrainian culture, and the town of Ivano-Frankivsk. The town was named after celebrated Ukrainian poet, writer and political activist, Ivan Franko. This city can be found at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains.
Moreover, on October 7, 2011, the delegation of Ivano-Frankivsk craftsmen comes to Arlington to meet their American colleagues through the cooperation of the Arlington Sister City Association, Ivano-Frankivsk committee. The Ukrainian blacksmiths will share their experiences and demonstrate this form of ancient craft. The art of the blacksmith is one of the universal “craft languages” that can be understood everywhere in the world.
