On October 23, 2011, the last performance within the USA tour of the play "Sweet Darusya" by famous Ukrainian writer, Taras Shevchenko National Ukrainian Prize winner Ms. Maria Matios was showed by Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Ivan Franko.

Two-week tour, covering six cities: New York, Whippany, Jenkintown, Chicago, Parma, Rochester, was organized by well-known U.S. company-carrier "MEEST" and had a great success.

The play aroused great interest among the American public, has become a landmark event in the cultural life of the Ukrainian-American Community. The tragic fate of Darusya – a young girl - as well as the whole thorny period of history of Bukovynian village from interwar years till the World War II and post-war hard times left no one indifferent. According to spectators, young actors were extremely successful in performing the depth and tragedy of this great novel.

Along with the theater, author of "Sweet Darusya" Ms. Maria Matios - represented the play.

One of the performances within the tour that took place in the Ukrainian cultural center in Jenkintown was visited by Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA His Excellency Oleksandr Motsyk.

Ukrainian diplomat expressed his gratitude to both Ukrainian actors and writer Ms. Maria Matios for their significant contribution to the popularization of Ukrainian literature and performing art.
