Annual Ukrainian festival started in Silver Spring, MD

On September 14, 2013, a two-day annual Ukrainian Festival, organized by St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral under the patronage of the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. started in Silver Spring, Maryland.
In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S Olexander Motsyk thanked the Ukrainian Americans for their contribution to the preservation of the Ukrainian language, culture and traditions as well as the developing the Ukrainian-American strategic relations.
The Ambassador also briefed the participants about the steps Ukraine takes to sign the European Association and Free Trade Area Agreement with the EU at the Eastern Partnership Vilnius Summit in November, 2013.
In this regard he pointed out that it’s extremely important for Ukraine to feel the support of the Ukrainians all over the world, including Ukrainian American community.
The festival program includes all-day performances, amusements, Ukrainian exhibits and cuisine.
