On September 19, 2013, Ukrainian participants of the Open World Program visited the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, D.C.
Since 1999, the Open World Program has provided opportunities for participants from Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia to acquaint themselves with American model of governance and establish contacts with U.S. counterparts.
The Embassy of Ukraine to the U.S. welcomed over 50 participants, representing local self-governments, NGOs and charity institutions from Ukraine. During their stay in America, Ukrainian visitors will make study visits to U.S. regions.
In his welcoming remarks, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. O.Motsyk informed the audience of the current pace and prospects for Ukraine-U.S. relations and briefed on the measures taken by the Ukrainian Government to sign the Association and Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in November, 2013, during Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.
