On September 23-24, 2013 Ukrainian delegation headed by Head of the State Agency for Investment and National Projects of Ukraine V.Kaskiv visited Washington, D.C.
The main purpose of the visit to the United States was to discuss the prospects of Ukraine-U.S. cooperation in the sphere of energy, in particular attracting U.S. investment and international financial resources for the implementation of major infrastructure projects to diversify sources of energy supply for Ukraine.
The meetings with Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and the Export- Import Bank of the United States were focused on possibilities of mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the national project “LNG terminal”, including the installation of the offshore platform for liquefied natural gas on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine. Additionally, the chances of obtaining credit and insurance guarantees for the national projects in the energy sector were discussed.
The negotiations proved to be yet another step towards deepening Ukrainian-American cooperation in the investment sphere, and demonstrated the U.S. support and that of international financial institutions of Ukraine’s economic policy, aimed at strengthening the energy security of our country.
