On October 1, 2013, the National Park Service issued to the Government of Ukraine a permit for the construction of the Memorial to the Victims of the Ukrainian Famine (Holodomor) of 1932-1933 in Washington, DC.
This decision is the logical result of the work by the Ukrainian Government and Ukrainian American community, particularly - U.S. Committee for Ukrainian Holodomor-Genocide Awareness 1932-1933, over the last three years.
Constructive cooperation between the National Park Service and «Hartman-Cox Architects» company contributed to the solution to all issues related to the selection and approval by the American side of the monument design ("Field of Wheat" by Larysa Kurylas ), as well as preparation of the documents required to obtain a permit for its construction.
The construction of the Holodomor Memorial in the U.S. capital is expected to be completed in 2014 by the 81st anniversary of this terrible crime of the Stalin regime.
