On July 29, 2011, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States of America Olexander Motsyk met with the representatives of leading business circles from New York City and Northeastern states of the USA.
The event was organized by the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) in association with the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York to bring to the American business community information about political and economic events in Ukraine as well as to discuss the issues of developing business environment, key investment opportunities and overcoming challenges the state faces today, including fighting corruption and necessity to modernize gas transportation system etc.
During the speech of the Ambassador participants were informed that Ukraine is actively implementing structural reforms almost in all spheres of life, thus, adopted were new Tax and Budget Codes as well as the Pension Reform Law and a number of other laws that improved business environment in our country substantially. At the same time he emphasized that Ukraine understands that it is obliged to comply with such conditions of active investments as transparency and comprehensibility of the system. Olexandr F. Motsyk stated that Ukraine is and will remain the country having stable and predictable external policy, which looks after protection of the private sector interests. The Ambassador pointed out substantial potential of Ukraine, in particular in manufacturing industry, air and space industry, gas sector, agricultural complex, as well as a significant export potential of Ukraine.
In the course of the discussion participants shared their opinions on the main areas for development of the banking and financial sector of Ukraine, its agriculture, education, land market and on the improvement of legal framework to guarantee efficient activity of foreign investors etc.
In their turn representatives of the US business circles and members of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council stressed the necessity to develop a mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the USA and our country, and to enhance efficiency of current mechanisms for cooperation with business circles of the Ukrainian missions overseas.
Consul General and other staff members of the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York and Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations also took part in the meetings and events.
