A reception on the occasion of the Victory Day took place on May 8, 2014, in Washington, DC, at the Embassy of Ukraine.
The event was attended by the heads of the diplomatic missions and military attaches representing a number of European countries accredited in the U.S.
In his welcome remarks, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk emphasized the invaluable contribution made by the Ukrainian people to the victory over fascism.
Millions of Ukrainians, underlined the Ambassador, never returned from the battlefields with the Hitler’s forces. More millions of Ukrainians were killed as a result of Ukraine’s occupation during WWII, wherein our people fought to the finish and never accepted it.
