On July 9, 2014, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with Senator Robert Portman (R-OH).
During the meeting, Ambassador Motsyk elaborated on the major provisions of the peace plan of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and priorities of the Ukrainian Government, informed about anticipated results of signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, thanked the United States for supporting Ukraine and expressed hope for further support on the part of the U.S. and Europe in countering Russian aggression as well as introducing sectoral sanctions at an early date against the Russian Federation.
In his turn, Senator Portman informed of his recent trip to Ukraine as an observer at the Presidential elections and highly commended the electoral process. He expressed support to Ukraine in addressing current problems and challenges, stressed on readiness of the United States to provide necessary political, economic and other assistance to our country.
Ambassador Motsyk thanked Senator Portman for his attention to the needs of the Ukrainian community in Ohio.
