President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde.
The President assured that Ukraine was ready to fulfill all its obligations within the IMF SBA. Despite difficult situation in the country, the Ukrainian government together with the IMF mission have elaborated the amended plan of future reforms for the implementation of the Program to further coordinate it at the IMF Executive Board that will be held in the second half of August.
Commenting on the statement of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk regarding his resignation, Petro Poroshenko emphasized that the Constitution of Ukraine and the legislation provided clear answers for ensuring stability in the given situation. He notes that within 10 days, the Parliament must determine the vote of confidence in the Cabinet of Ministers through voting. Currently, all members of the Government continue fulfilling their functions.
The Head of State informed that he had held a meeting with Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov and heads of factions following which it had been agreed to conduct voting on the confidence in the Government under the procedure to reaffirm the stability of the team on the implementation of reforms.
In her turn, Christine Lagarde emphasized: “Your word and devotion mean a lot for us”. She warned the Ukrainian politicians to avoid populism and unnecessary promises in the course of the election campaign, because in current financial and economic situation of Ukraine they wouldn’t be fulfilled. Ukraine should move in the framework of the Government’s program that has been approved by the IMF and is considered realistic, the Managing Director of the IMF noted.
