President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko continued phone consultations with President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
José Manuel Barroso stated full understanding and support to the position of Ukraine on humanitarian mission that should be implemented under the international regulations and internal Ukrainian procedures. The President of the European Commission also commended that it was the ICRC who coordinated logistics and delivery of humanitarian assistance to Luhansk residents.
Petro Poroshenko expressed gratitude to the EU for the support and the decision to allocate financial assistance in the amount of EUR 2.5 million for Donbas residents who suffered most from the actions of militants. Particularly, funds will be allocated for the purposes of international humanitarian assistance to Luhansk residents through the ICRC. Also, the assistance will be allocated for the needs of migrants, providing them with housing, food products, drinking water, medical services and psycho-social support.
The parties also discussed the issue of energy dialogue and further economic assistance from the EU, particularly in the framework of the international donor conference that will be held in Kyiv this autumn.
The previous conversation between the Ukrainian President and the President of the European Commission was held yesterday, August 11, 2014.
