The parties discussed international efforts on settlement of the situation in the Donbas. Particularly, the President noted that recently, illegal entry of heavy armament and military machines in Luhansk and Donetsk regions had been significantly intensified causing further escalation of the conflict. At the same time, Petro Poroshenko emphasized that the safety of civilians, particularly residents of Donetsk and Luhansk was an absolute priority in the course of the ATO. According to the President, the peace plan is the only way to establish peace in the Donbas and stability in Ukraine.

Joseph Biden and Petro Poroshenko agreed to coordinate further actions in the international arena.
