Washington, DC – On February 9, 2011 the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Olexander Motsyk met with founders and directors of the  «Children of Chornobyl Relief and Development Fund»  Dr. Zenon and Nadia Matkiwsky and CCRDF Country Director Alexa Milanytch. Dr. & Mrs. Matkiwsky are well known in Ukraine and in the United States for their dedicated humanitarian service to the children in Ukraine. Dr. and Mrs. Matkiwsky established CCRDF in 1990 following the Chornobyl catastrophe, and the Fund continues to work as a humanitarian organization focused on saving and improving the lives of children in Ukraine. Over the course of 20 years, CCRDF has launched 32 airlifts and 18 sea shipments, delivering over $63,000,000 worth of state-of-the-art medical equipment to our 31 partner hospitals.

During the meeting, Ambassador Motsyk and the CCRDF directors discussed programs for the preparation of the 25th anniversary of Chornobyl. The Embassy and CCRDF agreed to work jointly for the preparation to coordinate and organize the commemorative events in the USA. The Ambassador expressed his deep appreciation to Dr. Zenon and Mrs. Nadia Matkiwsky for their long-term philanthropic mission.
