Ambassador of Ukraine Olexander Motsyk met with the newly elected United States Representative Mr. Andy Harris of Maryland.

During the discussion Ambassador Motsyk and Congressman Harris shared thoughts on the prospects of the U.S.-Ukraine relations, discussing in more details the energy cooperation, science and technology and environmental issues. The sides marked the importance of further development of cooperation between the U.S. Congress and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ambassador briefed the Congressman on the activities that are being taken to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, particularly about the summit initiated by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych on safe and innovative use of the nuclear energy.

A consideration has been given to the topical issues of the Ukrainian community in the United States, as well as to the activities of the Ukrainian congressional caucus.
