On January 12, 2011 premier screening of the documentary «A Kingdom Reborn: Treasures from Ukrainian Galicia» was held at the capital of the United States. The movie is about the history of the region, which is reflected in the sacred cultural monuments from pre-Christian times until today.

The aim of the project, created by Ukrainian Canadian Danielle Stodilka and Ukrainian American Peter Bejger, was to introduce to the western audience the treasures of the Galician culture in its sacred and secular architecture, icon painting as well as present the main historical events of Galicia and Lviv.

«Our work presents the phenomenon of Lviv, commented one of the authors. The city historical environment had constantly changed and was pretty diverse. These historical conditions boosted the cultural and philosophical development of Lviv, created its unique heritage, which we are showing to the world for the first time».

Special attention deserves the fact that the documentary examines the contribution to the culture and art of Galicia and Europe in general made not only by the Ukrainians but also the Armenians, Jewish and Poles.

The soundtrack features rediscovered peaces of old Ukrainian music as well as contemporary works by Myroslav Skoryk. The original language of the film is English. The documentary is also translated into Ukrainian, German, French, Italian, Russian and Polish.

The film «A Kingdom Reborn: Treasures from Ukrainian Galicia» received a positive response and a big round of applause from the audience that included representatives from U.S. government institutions, Ukrainian community as well as Americans.

In his welcoming address Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Olexander Motsyk has greeted the authors and praised their considerable contribution into popularization of Ukrainian cultural heritage and strengthening the positive image of our country.
