January 15, 2011 – The biggest and most prominent concert hall of American capital the Kennedy Center welcomed US National Symphony Orchestra conducted by young Ukrainian musician Kyryl Karabits.
Born and educated in Ukraine, Kyryl Karabits made his first public appearance at age of 19. He was assistant conductor of the Budapest Festival Orchestra from 1998 to 2000. He also served as associate conductor of the Orchestra Philarmonique de Radio France from 2002 to 2005. He is the first Ukrainian сonductor to be named principal conductor of the UK Orchestra.
The music pieces of Shostakovych, Sibelius and Silvestrov were performed during the concert.
The audience gave the artists a standing ovation and encored them many times.
The event was attended by the spouse of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Mrs. Natalia Terletska.
