On February 25, 2015, US capital’s George Washington University hosted “The importance of Ukraine’s Security for Europe” roundtable, attended by Ambassadors of EU, Finland, Germany, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine.
The discussion involved the University’s faculty and students, who represented the renowned American school of law and political science.
Speaking at the event, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk informed the experts about the current situation in Ukraine as the country celebrated the first anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity, in particular, as regards the counteraction to the Russian aggression and economic reforms in Ukraine. In view of the ongoing violations of the Minsk Agreements by Russia and Russia-supported militants, he stressed the need for increased sanction pressure on the Kremlin, and called on the U.S. and other Western countries to provide defensive armaments to Ukraine to fight the mounting aggression.
The participants of the roundtable condemned the Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and declared their firm support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. They also called for further intensification of sanctions because of ongoing violations of basic principles and norms of international law by Moscow.
