On August 5, 2015 Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Valeriy Chaly and Military Attaché Serhiy Dolenko came to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (Bethesda, Maryland) to visit the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Ihor Hordiychuk, who is recovering in USA after he had been wounded last August in Donbass, Ukraine.
During the meeting Valeriy Chaly wished a good recovery for Ihor Hordiychuk and assured that Embassy of Ukraine to the USA always ready to give a necessary support.
At the same time Valeriy Chaly was greeted by CAPT Clarence Thomas, Acting Director of WRNMMC; Tyrone Willis, Command Senior Enlisted Leader of WRNMMC and COL Ray Antoine, Acting Chief of Staff, WRNMMC. During the meeting sides discussed the conditions of treatment and placement of injured Ukrainian soldiers who will arrive to WRNMMC in the nearest future.
The US Department of Defense proposed to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military structures its assistance in treating of 21 soldiers, wounded during the ATO in eastern Ukraine. Transportation and treatment of these servicemen will be carried out of the US state budget.
During the Ukrainian inspection, the US side has demonstrated full readiness to meet wounded soldiers. In his turn, Valeriy Chaly conveyed President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko's sincere gratitude to WRNMMC staff, DoD and US Government for their invaluable assistance and support of Ukraine in preserving of lives and health of wounded militaries.
