September, 29 - October, 2, the delegation of members of the Parliament of Ukraine including Hanna Hopko, Chairwoman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsdadze, First Deputy Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, as well as Viktor Chumak, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Combating Organized Crime and Corruption, and co-Chair of the Ukraine-U.S. group for interparliamentary cooperation in the Verkhovna Rada visited Washington, D.C.

The delegation met with co-Chairs of Ukrainian Caucuses in U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, members of foreign affairs committees in both chambers of U.S. Congress, leading experts on Ukraine in the White House, U.S. Security Council, Department of State, Department of Commerce and USAID, as well as political think-tanks and businessmen.
Meetings with U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Jeanne Shaheen, as well as Representatives Michael Fitzpatrick, Sander Levin, Eliot Engel and Marcy Kaptur, covered a wide range of issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation, before all in the context of countering the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The sides fully concurred on the need for the Russian Federation and the terrorist organizations DPR and LPR it supports to implement steadfastly the Minsk agreements in their entirety; to not only maintain but also scale up the sanction pressure on Russia; to strengthen the trans-Atlantic solidarity behind Ukraine; and to beef up the Ukrainian Army with U.S. defensive lethal weapons. The senators and congressmen assured the members of Ukrainian Parliament of their determination to further work proactively on the abovementioned tracks. The sides have agreed to continue their active dialog on all matters of mutual concern, including through video conferencing.
The delegation of the Verkhovna Rada visited Ukrainian military servicemen, who sustained heavy injuries in combat in Donbas and are now undergoing medical treatment at a military hospital near Washington, D.C., to offer them moral and practical assistance.
