Ambassador of Ukraine in the United States Valeriy Chaly took part in Holodomor commemoration ceremony at the memorial to the victims of the Genocide of Ukrainians in 1932-33 in Grand Park, Los Angeles.
The ceremony was organized by the California Committee for the Commemoration of the Holodomor-Genocide in Ukraine in 1932-33 and attended by Mayor of the LA County Michael Antonovych, local Ukrainian Community and diplomats. The Ambassador of Ukraine thanked Mayor Antonovych and the LA County Board for a decision that will preserve in perpetuity a location of Holodomor Memorial in Grand Park.
Valeriy Chaly recognized efforts of the California Holodomor Commemoration Committee and its Chairman Peter Borisow. He also emphasized that the unity of Ukrainians across the world is important for commemoration of Holodomor and for support to Ukraine that defends its freedom and security in Europe and the world.
The Holodomor Memorial at Grand Park was unveiled in 1986 and is the first Holodomor memorial in the United States.
