October 27, 2010 – Embassy of Ukraine welcomed its guests for the piano concert by Ukrainian pianist Pavlo Gintov jointly organized by the Cultural and Information Center at the Embassy of Ukraine and the International Club of DC.
At the age of 6 Pavlo Gintov started his musical education at Kyiv Central Music School and continued at the Moscow State Conservatory. In 2008 Pavel Gintov received a Master of Music Degree at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Nina Svetlanova, where he is currently working on his DMA degree.
Among the grants received my Mr. Gintov are the Shevchenko Scientific Society Grant (New York 2008), the Full Scholarship and Stipend at the Manhattan School of Music (2006), and the Grant of the Scriabin Foundation (Moscow, 2000).
The event was opened with the welcoming remarks by the Embassy representative, who briefed the audience on the historical background and cultural heritage of Ukraine.
Today’s recital once again proved Mr. Gintov to be a brilliant soloist and a prodigiously talented who has plenty of power and speed as well as the ability to create mood and emotion while giving his interpretation of the repertoire. The audience enjoyed the Romantic works by Schubert, List, Chopin and Debussy, compositions by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov and Skoryk.
After the concert the guests were invited to learn more about the historical room of George Washington, enjoy the sculpture exhibition by Ihor Hrechanyk, watch the promo video about Ukraine as well as indulge in a feast of traditional Ukrainian entrees prepared by the Embassy chef.
