December 2, 2015, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly met with Ranking Member of the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives Adam Smith.
The interlocutors discussed the current political and military situation in Ukraine in the context of the continuing Russian aggression against Ukraine. Ambassador Chaly thanked the Congressman for his personal support for the legislation, including the NDAA-2016, envisaging U.S. military and technical aid to Ukraine, and stressed the importance of a continued practical support of the United States in this area.
Also speaking about prospects of deepening the Ukraine-U.S. cooperation, particularly in the trade and economic sphere, the Ambassador of Ukraine drew attention to the importance of further development of partnership between regions and cities of the two countries. Valeriy Chaly noted that establishment of partner relations between Seattle – a powerful business center of the state of Washington, which Ranking Member Smith represents in the U.S. House, and the Ukrainian city of Lviv, would be of great significance in this regard. He also invited Adam Smith to support this initiative.
