On May 26, 2012 on the occasion of the European Football Championship EURO-2012 co-hosted by Ukraine and Poland the Embassy of Ukraine to the U.S. held Diplomatic Mini-Soccer Cup. Nine teams participated in the event.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk made the first symbolic “ball kick”, and awarded the winners of the cup. The team of the Dutch Embassy became a champion of the Diplomatic Mini-Soccer Cup, winning the final match with the Russian Embassy soccer team. The Norwegian Embassy soccer team won the 3-rd place. Staff of the Embassy of Ukraine made it to the ¼ of the cup; however, lost to its Turkish colleagues.

Following the Diplomatic Mini-Soccer Cup all the participants were invited to the Embassy of Ukraine, where they could indulge in the variety of Ukrainian traditional dishes presented by the Embassy chef.

The event was attended by more than 500 people, including foreign diplomats, mass media and friends of the Ukrainian Embassy.
