On September 15th, 2010, Ambassador of Ukraine Olexander Motsyk met with Dr.Laura Jewett, the Regional Director for Eurasia at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI).

The meeting was focused on the domestic situation in Ukraine in the context of upcoming local elections in Ukraine, as well as on further development of the US-Ukraine Strategic Partnership and prospects of the European integration of our country.

During the discussion of local elections Ambassador Motsyk informed Dr. Jewett about the amendments to the Law on Local Elections that have been initiated by the President of Ukraine. These amendments allow parties and their local offices that have been registered less than 365 before the Election Day to run in the elections; the amended law also provides an opportunity for local parties to be represented in the elections commissions.
