Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly took part in the Valor Memorial Ceremony and paid tribute to the officers from U.S.CBP and its legacy agencies who have died in the line of duty

Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly along with the leadership of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and representatives of foreign diplomatic corps took part in the Valor Memorial Ceremony and paid tribute to the officers from U.S.CBP and its legacy agencies who have died in the line of duty.
After the ceremony, Ambassador of Ukraine met with the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, U.S. CBP Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske and U.S. CBP Assistant Commissioner for the Office of International Affairs Mark Koumans.
The Parties discussed the effectiveness of U.S.-Ukraine joint training programs and the American support in equipping Ukrainian customs and border guards. They also praised the successful operation conducted by Ukrainian Border Guard forces on recovering the collection of highly valuable 17 paintings that had been stolen from the museum of Italian city of Verona. Counterparts also underscored that this successful operation is a result of U.S.-Ukraine customs and border security cooperation.
The interlocutors highly appreciated the contribution of Ukrainian border guards in the protection of borders and maintenance of peace on the European continent.
Ambassador Chaly thanked U.S. partners for the U.S. technical assistance to Ukraine in customs and border protection sphere and emphasized the importance of continuing U.S. support of Ukraine in the face of ongoing Russian aggression against our country.
The parties also discussed the agenda of the U.S. CBP Commissioner G. Kerlikowske’s upcoming visit to Ukraine this month, as well as the importance of signing the U.S. – Ukraine Customs Mutual Assistance Agreement that will become a significant tool in preventing customs offences.
