On July 23th, 2010, Ambassador of Ukraine Olexander Motsyk spoke at the Dickinson State University and the Ukrainian Cultural Institute (North Dakota) on the impact of Chornobyl disaster, its consequences and challenges it posed for Ukraine.
In his address Olexander Motsyk outlined the recent efforts of Ukraine itself and in cooperation with the international community to mitigate the Chornobyl disaster consequences.
The Chornobyl Symposium was among the highlights of the Ukrainian Festival under way in Dickinson and focused on the aftermath of the meltdown of the Number Four reactor at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl. Mary Mycio, author of “Wormwood Forest: A Natural History of Chornobyl”, gave a presentation of her investigation into the explosion and ensuing disaster at Chornobyl.
