On August 24, 2010 the celebration of the 19th Anniversary of Ukraine's Independence were organized by the Ukrainian community of New York at the Ukrainian Museum in New York. The event was attended by Consul General of Ukraine in New York S.Pogoreltsev and Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN E.Tsymbalyuk.

In his speech during the official part of the event, attended by numerous leaders of the Ukrainian public organizations of the U.S., head of the Consulate briefed an audience on the current socio-economic indicators that show the gradual restoration of the Ukrainian economy and stabilization of its financial and economic situation.

S.Pogoreltsev also noted that competent professional Government and Parliamentary coalition has been formed in Ukraine and assured an audience that the representatives of the Ukrainian authorities will implement the course towards establishing Ukraine as a strong European state – a leader with viable economy, high social standards of life and pragmatic foreign policy that protects national interests of Ukrainians.

Referring to the Ukrainian Community of New York Consul General stressed the importance of full-scaled cooperation between Ukraine and Ukrainian Community abroad. Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN E.Tsymbalyuk read the greetings of the Minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko to World’s Ukrainians.

The same day Consulate General representative congratulated the Ukrainian community of Pennsylvania in his speech at the celebration concert on the 19th Anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, held at the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center of the city of Dzhenkintaun. Addressing the Ukrainian communities he underlined a vital role of the organizations of Ukrainian Diaspora in the U.S. in establishing and consolidation of an independent Ukrainian state, expressing his confidence in further continuation of fruitful and constructive cooperation between the diplomatic and consular institutions of Ukraine to the United States and the organizations of Ukrainian Community in the U.S.
