Ambassador Olexander Motsyk met with Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Melanne Verveer and Ambassador-at-Large for Monitoring and Combat Trafficking in Persons Luis CdeBaca.
During the meeting both sides noted Ukraine’s progress in combat trafficking in persons. In this context parties discussed prospects of further advancing Ukraine-U.S. cooperation in this sphere, in particular on criminal prosecution of persons, who committed such crimes, prevention of trafficking and rehabilitation of the victims. At Ambassador Motsyk’s request the U.S. representatives promised to review the new Ukrainian legislation and action plan aimed at elimination of trafficking in persons, including women, and labor exploitation of male migrants, as well as provide technical advice.
In addition, the parties discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and international organizations, in particular the OSCE, International Migration Organization and the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime.
