On May 14, 2012 Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olexander Motsyk held a meeting of honorary consuls of Ukraine to the United States: Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Birmingham (Alabama) Mr.R.Colson, in Cleveland (Ohio and Kentucky) Mr.A.Futey, in Detroit (Michigan) B.Fedorak, in Salt Lake City (Utah) Mr.J.Freedman and in Huston (Texas) Mr.G.Buchai.
Ambassador of Ukraine informed the honorary consuls of the political, social and economic situation in Ukraine, national reforms in the economy, including the improvement of the business environment and investment climate, as well as the current state and prospects of Ukrainian-American cooperation.
During the meeting a number of essential issues of the consular service of Ukraine on the U.S.’s territory was discussed. Special attention was paid to the protection of rights and interests of individuals and legal entities of Ukraine, international adoption, the work with citizens and assistance in the conduct of Ukrainian parliamentary elections.
The heads of the Embassy’s sections informed honorary consuls on the main tasks of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, enhance advocacy, regional cooperation and cooperation between educational institutions of Ukraine and the United States.
Special attention was focused on trade and economic cooperation, including support of the Ukrainian exports to the United States and attraction of the U.S. investments in Ukraine.
