Washington, DC, July 18, 2012 - Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Olexander Motsyk held a meeting in the headquarters of the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C. with Secretary General of the OAS Hosé Miguel Insulza. Issues of further cooperation between Ukraine and the Organization that encompasses virtually all countries of the North and South America were raised at the meeting. Ukraine’s bilateral relations with individual member-states of the OAS were also discussed.
Olexander Motsyk talked to Hosé Miguel Insulza about high level of Ukraine’s relations with the American states and underscored interest in their further progress, in particular in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas. He also informed the Secretary General of a great potential of Ukraine in space exploration, aviation and agriculture that could be more engaged in cooperation with the Western Hemisphere.
As for Secretary General Hosé Miguel Insulza, he talked about the priorities of the OAS, shared views on the OAS experience in finding solutions to social problems, conflict resolution, as well as fighting security and humanitarian challenges – organized crime, illegal trade in arms and narcotics.
Ambassador of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Secretary General for inviting Ukraine to the 42nd OAS General Assembly which took place on June 3-5 in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
