During the meeting the parties discussed the UN humanitarian projects in Ukraine, in particular the 2017 Humanitarian Response Plan for our country.
The Ambassador expressed deep gratitude to the UN representative for significant support of Ukrainian people affected by the Russian aggression and underlined the importance of joint international assistance led by the UN to address urgent needs of the most vulnerable categories of Ukrainian citizens.
Valeriy Chaly noted that despite Russian “commitments” to ceasefire, millions continue to suffer the consequences of protracted violence. Neal Walker reiterated the firm UN position to continue humanitarian support of the people of Ukraine and underlined substantial input of international donors, in particular the United States, in funding the UN activity in Ukraine. According to the UN Humanitarian Response Plan 2017 Ukraine’s requirements in aid is estimated in $214 million in order to assist 2.6 million people.
Sides reached an agreement to continue joint efforts in order to improve humanitarian situation in Ukraine caused by the Russian aggression.
