In his speech, the Ambassador noted that despite the acute challenges of the last year, Ukraine has managed to implement some fundamental landmark reforms to ensure macro-economic stability and the rule of law as well as to set up a solid framework for further economic revival.
Valeriy Chaly underlined, that 2016 is the first year of economic growth after years of decline. He mentioned, that according to the IMF, Ukraine’ economy will grow 1.5% this year with 2.5% forecast of growth for the 2017. Ambassador stressed, that it is a very encouraging trend and a clear signal of economic recovery.
All of these transformations Ukraine is conducting while facing Russian aggression on the east of the country. Restoration of territorial integrity of Ukraine will release significant resources which could be redirected from defense and security to implementing of reforms as well as on realization of infrastructure projects in cooperation with international partners.
Valeriy Chaly expressed a strong believe that democratic and economically vibrant Ukraine will be a favorable destination for foreign investors.
