At the festival, which has been officially opened with the participation of Ambassador of Ukraine to the US Valeriy Chaly and his wife Liudmyla Mazuka as well as Washington, DC Mayor the Hon. Muriel Bowser and heads of other diplomatic missions that take part in the Flower Mart, the Embassy of Ukraine presents a floral arrangement named "Prayer for Ukraine". As it’s indicated on the sign that is located near the arrangement, “… for the past three years, Ukraine has suffered from the occupation of some of its territories and endured devastation,
displacement, and the threat of violence from beyond its borders…” Ukrainians strive to restore peace and save lives of those who defend their native land from the enemy. One of the elements incorporated into Embassy’s arrangement is national embroidery, which has a symbolic role of charm-protector in Ukrainian traditions. The Embassy is also distributing information leaflets about Ukraine during the Flower Mart.
