The Ambassador of Ukraine briefed the Senator on the current situation in the temporarily occupied by Russia parts of Ukraine’s Donbas and Crimea.

Ambassador Chaly asked Senator Sasse as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee to support legislation aimed to further expand the U.S. defense and security assistance to Ukraine. Particular emphasize was placed on the importance of providing Ukraine with US lethal weapons of a defensive nature that could become an effective deterrent against further escalation of Russian aggression.
