The discussion evolved around the ways of further support by the U.S Congress of Ukraine’s efforts to implement its reform agenda and counteract Russian aggression.
Ambassador Chaly underscored that he highly valued the strong bipartisan consensus over Ukraine in the U.S. Senate and counted on further practical steps of the U.S. lawmakers to enhance the programs of assistance to Ukraine, in the area of military and technical cooperation in particular. The Ambassador also underscored the good prospects for deepening the Ukraine-U.S. partnership in economic, investment, and energy spheres.
In the context of the 85th anniversary of the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine, Ambassador Chaly asked Senator Hatch to support adoption of a resolution recognizing the tragedy as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people.
