Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze and Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly with U.S. Senator Cory Gardner.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze and Valeriy Chaly expressed their appreciation of the Senator’s steadfast support of Ukraine. They have stressed the importance of ramping up sanctions against Russia as well as asked for the continued support of the Senator, as a member of the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations, and Energy and Natural Resources, for legislative initiatives aimed to further enhance the U.S. assistance to Ukraine through the Department of State and USAID programs.
Noted in the meeting was the importance of a continued coordination between the U.S. and Ukraine in counteracting the challenges posed by Russia in cyber and energy security including by opposing the attempts of the Kremlin to build the Nord Stream 2 pipeline that threatens the energy security of Ukraine and the West. The sides highlighted the mutual interest to deepen cooperation in the development of alternative sources of energy.
The Senator, who is a member of the Senate Ukraine Caucus, was briefed on the current situation in Ukraine, particularly in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression, and the reforms progress. The Vice Prime Minister invited Senator Gardner to visit Ukraine.
