On July 4-6, 2012, the American capital Washington hosted an inaugural Global Chiefs of Protocol Conference, organized by the Office of U.S. Chief of Protocol. The event was attended by more than 100 chiefs of protocol from different countries and international organizations. Ukraine was represented at this forum by Presidential Adviser – Head of the Main Office for State Protocol and Ceremonial of Administration of the President of Ukraine Yuriy Ladnyi and Director of the Directorate for State Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oksana Petryaeva.
During the interactive discussions with each other as well as representatives of major American and international media, officials of the U.S. Department of State and other federal institutions responsible for protocol issues, the participants of the Conference had an opportunity to exchange practical experience of arrangement of visits, to establish necessary working contacts and to develop new tools meant for increasing of effectiveness of international cooperation in the sphere of protocol.
As an outcome of the conference, the chiefs of protocol from different countries signed the Declaration, which, in particular, acknowledged the leading role of the diplomatic protocol in the system of modern international relations. Participants of the event pledged to make joint efforts in order to further develop bilateral relations between states.
