Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly held a meeting with Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Ed Royce and Ranking Member Eliot Engel.
The Minister thanked the congressmen for the continuing focus of the Committee on supporting Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.
He particularly noted the decision taken by the Committee on September, 27 this year to report favorably for House consideration under suspension of the rules H.Res. 931, a bipartisan resolution on the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor in which the tragic events of the 1932-1933 are recognized as a genocide against the Ukrainian people. In this context, he expressed a hope that the House would pass the resolution in the upcoming weeks this year.
The Ukrainian side also underscored the importance of furthering in the financial year 2019 budget the positive dynamics of the assistance made available to Ukraine through the Department of State, Pentagon and USAID.
