On November 3-4, 2011 the Second meeting of the Ukraine-United States Working Group on Science and Technology (STWG) was convened in the Department of State in Washington, D.C.
STWG is an integral part of the Ukraine-U.S. Strategic Partnership Commission.
The STWG meeting was opened by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Informatization of Ukraine Borys Grynyov and the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans, Environment and Science DanClune.
During the STWG session the Ukrainian delegation presented the review of the new infrastructure of Science in Ukraine, the new concept of the Ukrainian Science and Technology Center and has made a proposition to establish the Ukraine-U.S. Center for Technology Transfers. The Sides has reviewed current developing of cooperation in the field of aerospace, medical science (nuclear medicine, biotechnology, oncology) and in the field of materials science and new materials research. Also weather forecasting, hydrological observations and flood management in the Carpathian region of Ukraine and the Dniper River basin were discussed.
Following the meeting the Working Group agreed on a Joint Action Plan for the new projects in the areas of science and technology.
