On November 30 – December 2, 2012, a delegation of the Kyiv City State Administration headed by its chair Olexander Popov visited Washington. The delegation took part in an international conference “Ukraine in Washington 2012” wherein it presented major elements of the Kyiv development program along with key investment projects of the Ukraine’s capital.
Four out of 300 projects prepared by the Kyiv City State Administration were presented at the conference, namely: the creation of modern IT city “Bionic Hill”, construction of the fourth metro line, building of international business center “Kyiv-city” and upgrading of a city water-supply system and infrastructure.
While in Washington the delegation of the Kyiv City State Administration visited District of Columbia Unified Communications Center where it learned about a work of the emergency lines “311” and “911”.
The delegation held meetings with leadership of Washington City Council, representatives of Ukraine’s community organizations and business circles. At the meetings they discussed issues of the city management, possibilities for the creation of new work places, initiatives to attract investments, and cultural cooperation.
On December 2, 2012, the delegation of the Kyiv City State Administration and Ukraine’s Ambassador to the US Olexander Motsyk left for Chicago to participate in the solemn ceremony of naming one of the streets located in so called “Ukrainian area” of Chicago. The ceremony will be held within a sister-city program.
