On November 30 - December 1, 2012, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Gryshchenko visited the US to participate in the international conference “Ukraine in Washington 2012” held on the occasion of the 21-st anniversary of referendum on Ukraine’s independence.
The event, held for the second year in a row in Washington DC, was organized by the US - Ukraine Foundation in association with the Embassy of Ukraine to the US.
In his welcoming remarks, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine placed a special emphasis on the events providing a forum for discussion of the current pace of the Ukraine - US relations.
Mr.Gryshchenko marked a high level of the strategic partnership with the US and expressed his profound gratitude to America for its support of our country including its independence.
The Minister also briefed the audience on Ukraine – EU relations in particular a thorough work on the text of the Association Agreement, which, upon completing technical aspects, will be ready to be signed.
A remarkable level of Ukraine – US cooperation in the field of nuclear materials safety and security, peacekeeping operations, as well as significant potential for bilateral trade and economic development were noted by the Foreign Minister.
The issues of trade and economic cooperation, specifically – foreign direct investments in the Ukrainian economy, improvement of a business climate in our country, development of information technologies and space industry will be discussed at this international conference.
