On January 31, 2013 Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with a delegation of Ukrainian judges, including judges of the Higher Commercial Court of Ukraine and commercial courts of Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv and Crimea as well as Head of the National School of Judges of Ukraine.
Ukrainian judges informed the Ambassador about the results of participation in a training within the framework of the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), held in Washington DC on January 24-31, 2013. The training was made possible through support by the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Trade Representative Office and the U.S. Department of State.
Intensive training program on the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) issues included visits to the federal court and other federal institutions, U.S. District Courts in Maryland and Virginia. Program’s participants met with American judges and representatives of the U.S. federal agencies responsible for the protection of IPR, patents regulation issues, registration of trade marcs etc.
Ukrainian judges praised the effectiveness of the training and informed the Ambassador that achieved experience will facilitate better understanding of the IPR protection issues in courts.
The Ambassador thanked American organizers of the training and expressed hope for continuation of the program. In conclusion, O.Motsyk informed Ukrainian judges and organizers of the Program about the current status and future prospects of the Ukrainian-American strategic partnership.
