Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Vasyl Tsushko visited Washington DC on April 8-12, 2013, to participate in the 61st Spring Meeting of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law.
While in Washington DC Chairman of Ukraine’s Antimonopoly Committee discussed the experience of the implementation of antitrust laws in the U.S. and other countries, the development of international competition, as well as legislative protection of free competition in different countries. In addition, V.Tsushko held bilateral meetings and consultations with the representatives of the relevant U.S. and other countries’ government agencies.
In particular, V.Tsushko and Chairwoman of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Edith Ramirez discussed the issues of cooperation between the institutions of both countries. E.Ramirez expressed its readiness to provide further assistance to Ukraine in cooperation with leading international organizations in the field of competition, and promote the improvement of Ukrainian legislation on combating non-competitive activities.
Also, Vasyl Tsushko met with Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk. During the meeting, the parties discussed, inter alia, the prospects of further Ukrainian-American cooperation in the field of competition, as well as possibility of providing the assistance by the Embassy to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine in the development of cooperation with the American side.
