On April 15, 2013, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with Deputy Secretary for Business and Economic Development Robert Walker and Director of International Affairs of the Office of the Secretary of State Anna Yankova.
At the meeting, the parties noted significant potential for cooperation between the regions of Ukraine and the state of Maryland and expressed their willingness to develop such cooperation. In this context, the participants of the discussion presented their vision of possible spheres of Maryland’s collaboration with one of the Ukrainian regions, in particular – business, education and culture.
Furthermore, the perspectives of enhancing current sister-city ties between the cities of Odesa and Baltimore were discussed.
To provide a detailed overview of the state’s potential and to explore the prospects for implementing joint projects with Ukraine it was agreed to arrange Ambassador’s visit to Maryland – namely to Annapolis, the Capital City, and Baltimore - the largest city of the state.
