On April 15, 2013, Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with President of U.S. – Ukraine Foundation Nadia McConnell and First U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Popadiuk to discuss the organizational issues of the international conference “Ukraine in Washington” to be held on December 5 – 6, 2013.
The conference will be the third annual Ukrainian-American large-scale event in a row to be held in the U.S. Capital, Washington, DC, dedicated to the next anniversary of the referendum of December 1, 1991, when more than 90% of Ukraine's population voted for independence of the country.
It is planned that at the conference, as in the previous years, participants will have an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of the Ukrainian-American cooperation, particularly in the spheres of energy, agriculture and high-tech.
Moreover, it is expected that the above-mentioned forum will include extensive cultural and artistic program with popular artists from Ukraine and the U.S. of Ukrainian descent.
At the meeting, Ambassador O.Motsyk also informed the representatives of U.S. – Ukraine Foundation about the work carried out by Ukraine in the context of its European integration, including preparations for the signing of Association Agreement and Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in November 2013, in Vilnius, Lithuania.
