On May 4, 2013, the draw among the participants of mini-football tournament for Kyiv Cup took place at the Embassy of Ukraine to the U.S. during the Open House.
The tournament will be held in Washington in the end of May and will be dedicated to the Day of Kyiv, which is traditionally marked on the last Sunday of May.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk opened the ceremony and thanked to representatives of ten foreign Embassies, that will take part in the tournament.
According to the draw results, the Embassy of Ukraine will play in one group with diplomatic missions of Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Romania and Kazakhstan. Another group includes the teams of the Embassies of Great Britain, Russia, Netherlands, Norway and Czech.
The sponsors of the tournament are the Kyiv City Administration and Football Federation of Kyiv. They presented medals, cups, image production and sport wear.
This is the second football tournament in a row, organized by the Embassy of Ukraine to the United States among the diplomatic corps in Washington. Last May the diplomats accredited in the U.S. capital competed for the cup in honor of EURO-2012 and the Embassy of the Netherlands team became the winner. This year tournament promises to be not less exciting.
