On May 17, 2013 within the framework of his visit to the U.S. Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhnyuk held a number of meetings with the U.S. officials in Washington, DC.
During Mr. Prysiazhnyuk’s meetings with representatives of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Department of the Treasury and State Department a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in agricultural sphere were discussed. The Minister informed the U.S. officials about the pace of social and economic reforms in Ukraine and priorities of state policy with the specific emphasis on the great export potential of Ukraine and the advantages of attracting the U.S. investments to our country’s agricultural sector.
The meetings with the International Finance Corporation and the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation were focused on discussing implementation of existing and new projects in Ukrainian agricultural sector. The Minister expressed confidence that the gradual improvement of the investment climate in Ukraine is a good incentive for the U.S. companies to launch new initiatives on the Ukrainian market.
In the course of the meeting with representatives of major American agribusiness companies such as "John Deere", "Monsanto", "AGCO" and "DuPont Pioneer", which implement investment projects in our country, Ukrainian and American sides exchanged their views on the prospects of expanding companies’ activities in Ukraine as well as deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with domestic business. In addition, representatives of American businesses expressed their support of our country’s integration to the EU and renewal of credit cooperation with the IMF. The meeting was held with the support of U.S.-Ukraine Business Council at the Metropolitan Club, one of the oldest and most prestigious private clubs in Washington.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk also took part in the above events.
